Installation
Plan your tile placement. Tile cuts should fall at wall corners and ceilings, not along the tub or sink edges.
Allow caulking space between the porcelain tiles and the tub or sink edges. Use latex tile mastic labeled for bathroom use for the tile adhesive. Apply the latex tile mastic to the wall or floor, working in small areas no larger than three feet by three feet. This will prevent excess mastic from drying or skimming over before you get the tiles in place. When installing porcelain tiles, place each tile a couple of inches away from where you want it. Then, slide the tile into position, pushing slightly as you move the tile. This helps spread a good coating of the mastic on the backside of the tile. Hold the tile in position for a few seconds before releasing.
Finishing
Leave the tiles undisturbed for 24 hours before grouting. It’s a good idea to use grout that contains additives that increase its water-repellency. Use unsanded grout with glazed porcelain tiles to avoid scratching the tile’s finish. Apply the grout according to the manufacturer’s directions. Allow the grout to dry for 24 hours before walking on the tiles or exposing the tiles to moisture. Unsealed porcelain tile is susceptible to grout haze; remove the haze with a little mild detergent mixed with water and a soft bristle brush or nylon pad. Once the installation is complete, you can seal unglazed porcelain tile to give them a glossy sheen. Use only sealers made for porcelain tiles.
