1) Vacuum & Brooms
Before applying any chemical or product on the surface of the tiles, it is important to sweep dust and solid particles away. Vacuum cleaners and brooms are used for pre-cleaning. You can use these items to remove fine hair, garbage, food particles, pet droppings and dust from the floor. Vacuum cleaners are more effective since they pick up the finest particles from the floor, very quickly.
2) Vinegar Solution
Create a homemade cleaning solution using warm water and white vinegar (or baking soda). Pour 1 cup of vinegar in 2 cups of hot water and stir well. Take a soft, dry mop and soak it in this solution. Wring out extra liquid and use the mop for scrubbing floors, in a circular motion. Moreover, you can pour vinegar-water mixture in spray bottles and spray it direct on the floor.
3) Diatomaceous Earth Poultice
You can mix diatomaceous earth poultice with any commercial cleaner available in the market. This substance comes in the form of moist looking clay. Pour the mixture on the surface of the tile, apply slight pressure above it and let it sit on the tiles, for a few minutes. Cover the mixture with a transparent plastic sheet to keep it moist for a longer time. Remove it to expose white, sparkling tiles.
4) Commercial Cleaners
There are plenty of commercial chemical solutions like Lysol, Pine-Sol and Mr. Clean available in the market. They are furnished with antibiotics and chemical substances that remove dirt, small particles, germs and marks from the floor. Nevertheless, since they corrode tile surfaces, it is best if you prepare homemade cleaning solutions.
